This position is located in our Anchorage Therapeutic Courts office in the Boney Courthouse.

What You Will Be Doing

Provide ongoing case management and community supervision of Superior and/or District Court Felony and Misdemeanor offenders who participate in any of the state's Therapeutic Court programs. These court programs are in; Anchorage, Palmer, Fairbanks, and Juneau and consist of Wellness Courts, Veterans Courts, Coordinated Resource (CRP) or Mental Health Court program, and Family Care Courts.

Performs the initial intake/risk assessment upon initial opt-in to the therapeutic court program. Meets with offenders/participants on a regular basis to monitor, process, and track compliance with court-ordered requirements, conduct routine field visits, curfew checks, alcohol and drug screenings. Participates in court hearings and prepares written reports for all status hearings.

Serve as a liaison between the Therapeutic Court participant and professionals in the justice system and local social service agencies. Work with the Therapeutic Courts in ensuring the Therapeutic Courts continued adherence to the National Drug Court Institutes (NDCI) standards.

This position may require travel to these locations as well as virtual coverage as needed.

One year of entry level professional experience in probation, parole, criminal justice, juvenile justice, social services, corrections, criminal investigation, public safety or law enforcement, mental health, substance abuse treatment, rehabilitation, or case management.

Substitution

Four years in any combination of post secondary education from an accredited college and/or paraprofessional experience in probation, parole, criminal justice, juvenile justice, social services, corrections, criminal investigation, public safety or law enforcement, mental health, substance abuse treatment, rehabilitation, case management, or similar work experience will substitute for the required degree.

Special Note

For both levels, a criminal record check will be performed at the time of hire to identify any convictions for felony or misdemeanor crimes; and the applicant must meet the requirements for Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN) access as defined by the Alaska Department of Public Safety. At the time of the interview, please provide the following:

  • Three (3) professional references, whom we may contact by phone, are required. One (1) of these references must be your current or most recent supervisor, if not already provided in the application.
  • Copies of your two (2) most recent employment performance evaluations, if available.
  • A copy of academic transcripts (unofficial is okay; please ensure that the institution name/URL is listed on the transcripts) is used to verify that you meet the minimum qualifications.

APSIN CHECK

This position requires the use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN). A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN. DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction or who may be a fugitive from justice. Additionally, security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.
