Position: Director of Human Resources
Location: Sacramento, CA 95826
Hours: Full Time
Schedule: Monday – Friday 9:00am-5:00pm
Compensation: $120,000 - $130,000 annually, depending on experience

Job Summary:

The Director of Human Resources provides strategic oversight and direction for all employees, culture initiatives, and programs. They will bring expertise in all facets of HR management, and as a passionate and approachable leader, they will foster a strong culture rooted in diversity, equity, and inclusion. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with exceptional communication and coaching skills, capable of building trust and rapport with employees and managers at all levels. We seek an organized and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a dynamic environment and can adapt seamlessly to evolving priorities.

Responsibilities:

 
  • Strategic Leadership & Culture: Provide long-term HR strategy, workforce planning, and succession planning. Represent HR on the Leadership Team and champion REDI (Race, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion) initiatives.
  • Talent Acquisition & Onboarding: Lead recruitment and hiring efforts, develop onboarding programs, and oversee performance evaluations.
  • Employee Relations: Manage employee relations, conflict resolution, and career development programs that build trust and enhance engagement.
  • Compensation & Benefits: Oversee compensation plans, pay structure revisions, and benefits administration, including 401(k) and open enrollment.
  • Systems & Compliance: Maintain the employee manual, ensure compliance with state and federal laws, manage HR technology systems, and use analytics to inform strategy.
Qualifications:

 
  • Minimum 5 years of HR experience, with at least 2 years in HR management (non-profit experience preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations (FMLA/CFRA, OSHA, ADA, FLSA, etc.).
  • Proven expertise in recruitment, retention, performance evaluation, and organizational development.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and manage multiple priorities.
  • High school diploma or GED required, relevant degree or certifications a plus.
  • Must pass criminal background screening, including education verification and DMV check.
