Role Overview As a Principal Hardware Security Consultant (internally called "Product Security Testing Manager"), you will be a senior team member responsible for hardware testing activities, including: Performing penetration testing on products across various verticals. Conducting comprehensive security assessments involving hardware, firmware, and code review. Creating test harnesses to identify and demonstrate security vulnerabilities. Communicating vulnerabilities effectively to client development teams. Documenting issues, risks, and remediation recommendations. Assisting in pre-sales scoping for penetration tests. Mentoring junior engineers and guiding career development. Engaging in vulnerability research for blogs, talks, and whitepapers. Participating in process improvements and developing internal tooling. Contributing to recruitment efforts, including resume reviews and interviews. Note: We do not sponsor visas for this role. Required Skills and Experience 5+ years in hardware/product security testing or bug bounty experience with IoT/Mobile products, beyond automated tools. Hardware Security Skills Experience with hardware reverse engineering (e.g., JTAG, SPI, UART, PCB analysis). Proficiency with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, debuggers. Expertise in embedded system vulnerabilities and architectures (ARM, RISC-V, MIPS, x86). Understanding of hardware root of trust and secure key storage. Low-level programming skills (C, C++, Assembly). Scripting experience (Python, Ruby). Firmware analysis, extraction, and vulnerability identification skills. Firmware Security Skills Firmware binary analysis with tools like Ghidra, IDA Pro. Vulnerability identification in memory management, encryption, secure boot, and OTA mechanisms. Firmware modification and bypass techniques. Preferred Additional Skills Experience in consulting, exploit development, or industry research. Relevant degrees or equivalent experience. Presentations at security conferences. Knowledge of supply chain risks, hardware design, and advanced attack techniques. Compensation The salary range for this U.S.-based role is $130,000 - $180,000 annually, depending on experience, skills, location, and internal factors.
