Job Description

Salary: $70,720 - 100,880 per year Requirements:

  • I hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline, along with 2 years of experience.
  • I possess a foundational understanding of Windows and Linux system administration, security scanning tools (such as Nessus or Symantec), and system auditing.
  • I am familiar with IT infrastructure components like servers, switches, firewalls, and virtual environments.
  • I demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities and a willingness to learn.
  • I have effective communication skills and can collaborate well with cross-functional teams.
  • I exhibit proficiency in both written and verbal communication, enabling efficient exchanges with users and the production of quality documentation.

Responsibilities:
  • I am responsible for configuring, operating, and maintaining Windows and Linux systems in adherence to established security standards.
  • I manage user accounts, credentials, permissions, access rights, storage allocations, and Active Directory Group Policies.
  • I maintain the IT infrastructure, which includes servers, computers, routers, switches, and firewalls, while ensuring timely security updates.
  • I conduct routine field security scans, system assessments, and asset audits; documenting findings and providing recommendations to management.
  • I contribute to system security efforts by detecting, preventing, and resolving breaches, viruses, and vulnerabilities.
  • I partake in risk-mitigation activities, including developing backup strategies, disaster recovery plans, and user security policies.
  • I am involved in developing and executing test plans and procedures for new IT infrastructure, hardware, and system implementations.
  • I troubleshoot and provide system-level technical support for integrated systems comprising electrical, mechanical, and software components.
  • I document system configurations, troubleshooting procedures, changes, and solutions in a centralized knowledge base.
  • I assist in creating and maintaining internal technical documentation, IT process manuals, and policy guidelines.
  • I stay updated with emerging technologies, best practices, and industry trends to enhance overall system performance and security posture.

I am expected to successfully complete a Public Trust background investigation, and I must have resided in the United States for at least three (3) of the past five (5) years. While not required, having relevant experience in system administration, IT security, or a related field is preferred (internship or co-op experiences may be acceptable for entry-level applicants).

I should have some knowledge of Python, Adobe, Office products, MySQL, and Group Policy, as well as experience with federal IT security controls outlined in NIST SP 800-53/4 or other security frameworks. Exposure to troubleshooting multi-disciplinary systems (including electrical, mechanical, and software) will be beneficial, along with familiarity with automation tools or scripting languages (like Python, Bash, or PowerShell). Additionally, basic knowledge of identity management and backup strategies is desirable.
